Privacy

What I collect

• When you send a message through the contact page: your name, your email address, your phone number if you give it, your child’s grade, and whatever you write in the message.
• When you sign the services agreement: your name, your email address, your child’s name, the date and time you signed, which version of the agreement you signed, and the internet address and browser you used. The last two are recorded so the signature can be verified later if it ever needs to be.
• When you browse the site: basic usage information collected through Google Analytics, such as which pages are visited, roughly where visitors are from, and the kind of device and browser used. This uses cookies. It does not include your name or anything you type into a form.

Why I collect it

To reply to you, to arrange and run tutoring sessions, to keep a record of the agreement you signed, and to understand how the website is used.

Where it is kept

Messages and signed agreements are stored in my Google Workspace account, in Google Drive and Google Sheets, which only I can access. Google Analytics data is held by Google under its own privacy policy. I do not sell your information, share it with anyone else, or use it for advertising.

How long I keep it

I keep a signed agreement for as long as I tutor your child, and for a reasonable period afterwards so there is a record of what was agreed. I keep contact messages only as long as I need them to reply and arrange sessions. You can ask me to delete your information at any time and I will, except where I need to keep a signed agreement as a record.

Children

This website is for parents and guardians. I do not knowingly collect information from children through the site. The details I hold about your child come from you, and are only what I need to tutor them.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct or delete the information I hold about you or your child by emailing alana@northstarteaching.ca. You can block or clear cookies in your browser; the site works without them.

Changes

If I change how I handle information, I will update this page and the date at the top.
